A great start to the year in Grade Three

We are happy to report that our first few weeks back in the classroom have been amazing. The children are wearing their masks and keeping their distance. We are so happy to be back in the classroom!

Our first days in school we worked on measurement and metres. This gave us the opportunity to go outside and measure with metres and specifically getting comfortable with 2 metres for social distancing.  We started off the year learning all about soil. Did you know there are different types of soil and lots of animals that live in the soil? Our great big schoolyard has been the perfect spot to dig and examine the soil. Yes, we even found some worms and snails.

Next week we will be observing real live worms in the classroom and starting our own worm compost in each class. I am so happy that I have so many worm handlers in the class. It has been a long time since I held a real live worm. The students promised to help handle the worms. Now I  just have to get brave enough to do it. Stay tuned!

Kitah Gimmel Israel Projects

The last three weeks have been very busy in Kitah Gimmel. We have been researching and developing our projects on our choice cities in Israel, and were very excited to share our 3D models (using only things we already had at home!) with the class. We have been learning from each other about different cities, new cultural foods, and ancient holy places.

Sharing is Caring! Grade 3 showcase what they are proud of…

Each week in Grade 3 we get together and share something we are proud of. This is been a constant in our physical classroom since September (TBH – Our class were/are always creating awesome things to be proud of so it became a daily/hourly thing!!!)

Today – I scheduled in time to share again…and boy was I proud! This will most certainly be something we will continue in our online class until the school year finishes. Not only does it bring us closer in a time when we have to be apart but I get to showcase all of the amazing things we are doing!

So today, we had an impressive rendition of the Harry Potter theme tune! Awesome work, Noa-Tili!

Katara and Meadow shared some super cool shortcuts and tools in Chrome Music Lab and Songmaker. A site they use in Music lessons.

A ROCKIN’ presentation about Crystal growing – Thanks Emma!

Linked to Rock – KitKat created an amazing Blog post on Rocks and Minerals. Check it out!

An excellent blog post about Minecraft!

We had a wonderful stop motion presentation showing his seedling adventures then a Quacky adventure…Saving the ducks!

Another awesome blog post about Kittens and Cats! Great work KitKat and Katara!

Each week, any and all grade 3 will be able to share and showcase what they are proud of! I encourage you to make a take a look, make a comment, and share something you are proud of!
