The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!

We are SO excited about the Scholastic Book Fair! The Book Fair is running from December 5-7. Please see the poster below for information about when our class is visiting the fair!

A few other important notes…

  • Parents can shop from 8:30-8:45 or 3:45-4:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the fair
  • There will be teacher / classroom wish lists, should you have any interest in purchasing a book for the class
  • If you have any preferences about how your child spends their money (i.e. no toys, a French book, 2 books only, etc.). Please write us an email to let us know prior to the book fair!

Scholastic Book Club

Hello Grade 3 Parents!

We are excited to share some information about the Scholastic Book Club! What is this Scholastic Book Club? Glad you asked! The book club is an EASY way to order books for your child to read at home AND each time you place an order, our whole class benefits! When you use our class code, we earn rewards to purchase new books for our classroom library!

So how do you order?

Start by visiting this website: https://www.scholastic.ca/readingclub

Then you just need to follow these few simple steps:

3A CLASS CODE: RC807375                 3B CLASS CODE: RC110679

New books and flyers are added each month! Please feel free to share our class code with any grandparents or relatives who are thinking of purchasing books for your child! I hope you take advantage of this awesome program and help us earn class rewards.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out!

PS – this is NOT replacing the Scholastic Book Fair. We will still be hosting our in-person Book Fair in December (stay tuned for details)!

Global Maker Day is Coming!

We are excited for Global Maker Day! Our classroom is already starting to overflow with amazing materials and recycled goods… but we need more! Please continue to send in popsicle sticks, cereal/cracker boxes, toilet paper tubes, paint stir sticks, popsicle sticks, and plastic tubs/lids (think yogurt containers, sour cream tubs – clean please!) to help with our creativity.

Homework Expectations

Hello Grade 3 Families!

The students have been buzzing with excitement about their homework and agendas! We wanted to share a quick blog post with you to explicitly share our homework expectations, as we have been slowly rolling out Grade 3 Homework over the last couple of weeks.

For French – Mr. Polowin will give the students a Plan de Travail each Monday to put in their notetotes. This includes reading, writing, and studying for the dicteé/quiz. The work is assigned on Monday and handed in on Friday. There is a weekly dicteé/quiz on Friday as well. The students write down their homework in their agendas each Monday.

For Hebrew – After the chaggim, Morah Sigal will be sending home a short reading passage each day Monday-Thursday. Students must read the passage and have it signed by a parent.

For General Studies – Each month, the students will have a BINGO board of activities and all of the printouts required in a duotang. We will assign this on the first Monday of each month and ask it to be returned on the last Friday of each month. Students will write it in their agenda on the first Monday of the month.

All homework can be found in your child’s note tote. As always, do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. You can also always access the Homework Expectations page (linked on the menu bar of our blog)!

General Studies Homework

Hello Grade 3 Parents!

As discussed at Back to School Night, we are so excited to launch our BINGO board for General Studies homework! Today your child is bringing home a new orange folder, filled with all of the required printouts for the BINGO activities. Reminder, this BINGO card is for the whole month (until the end of October) and we require that the students are completing one task per week!
